Road Trip

20 to 459 to 59 to 75 to Piqua. I'll leave late Good Friday morning and stop in Richmond, Kentucky and watch Ghost Whisperer. Then I'll leave early Black Saturday and arrive at the old homestead later that morning. I suspect both Jess and Al will be there.

I'll be honest with all y'all: I'm scared. Bought it site unseen. If it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience, I'd like to take you guys with me. You went to Iowa. This is a much shorter drive. (Limited bathroom breaks; I am my Father's son, after all. Who called shotgun again?!)

Pictures to follow.

We've got a half a pack of cigarettes, a full tank of gas, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

I'm sure there's something I could type that would entirely calm your fears, but I got nuthin', except...

Shotgun.

It's SPRING here! Scattered t-storms on Saturday but lovely for Sunday.

Welcome home.

Cindy, I've got serious butterflies in my stomach, and not necessarily the good ones. I'm just gonna have to plow through.

tia, you don't even like Ohio. But when I near the 75/70 junction, I'll probably sob the rest of the way. I miss mom and dad so dearly. I hope you're well.

Smutt, Jess has the keys. He's already torn off the porch and has remodeled the kitchen into a tobacco-drying kiln.

bright, I have you to thank as well for helping me try to get to this point and, god-willing (literally), beyond it. In honor of Wall Street 2 coming out this fall, I'll paraphrase one of the best lines from the first one, Hal Holbrook saying that a man finds himself in the abyss, a man looks at himself, and that's when a man finds his character.

Cooler full of beer and home made sweet tea? I'll be in Ohio, just south of you at some point this summer anyway.

I'll bring the road sodas, maybe you can watch me throw 'em out the window for you, since you have to drive and all.

Good luck, swit. Crazy big move.

K (I'll give a yell if they ever send me to that side of the Nutter center again.)

Aw, c'mon, I LOVE Yellow Springs. Piqua's only, what, an hour away? Hell, as long as there's a Bob Evans nearby, I'll be just fine. So will you. Can't wait to hear about the new old homestead.

tia, there's a Bob Evans nearby everything in Ohio.

Hope you had a safe trip and no surprises, brother.

Hey, did Jess happen to install The Internets at the homestead after he finished ripping off the porch? We need updates.

I need an update! Should have been checking more often.

My mind has been swirling around a lot of things, and you've been among the thoughts as you drive north.

Here's a bit of a poem that reminds me of you.

“I have a feeling that my boat has struck, down there in the depths, against a great thing. And nothing happens! Nothing ... Silence ... Waves. Nothing happens? Or Has everything Happened and we are standing now, quietly, in the new life?” - Juan Ramon Jimenez "

Sending you a hug.
