You Say Crawl Space, I See Basement

"Hmm... I wonder what this switch does..."

[thwozzzzz... poof]

My oldest brother, Jess. All-American decathlete, former record-holder at his alma mater in the high jump. 6 feet 10 inches, for those of you keeping score.

Husband to Jane, father of 2 beautiful girls.

The "mechanical room", just east of Piqua, Ohio, photographed by aforementioned Jane, Sunday, March 21, 2010, almost exactly 9 years to the day of our dad's death.

He's just looking out for his baby brother. As usual. See you in about a week, god willing. (Wisdom tooth flare up. Long story.)

Other famous last words:
"Is this thing loaded? Let's see..."
"Let me just reach in and see if the blades are turning."
"Hey, y'all, watch this!"

Let me make a wild-assed guess and say ground level is about an inch above the bottom of the box.

Wow this is getting exciting!! Can't wait to read about the trek, the move, the land and the rest of the story.

I'm moved by the synchronicity of your plans with the important anniversaries and memories of your family life. Seems like very rich nourishment of your roots.

Reminds me of my sister's basement - does your cellar also have a shower in the middle of the room and a staircase that doesn't lead anywhere?
