"yes. but only when we go elsewhere."

Crocuses. Saw them yesterday. And maybe tadpoles in the stream?

And I saw Canadians packing up and heading North! A sure sign!

Well, sometimes they're "funny."

Gah, I still haven't had any patches of brown emerge from the snow. Still a foot in some places.

bright, i think those blooms are in for a rude awakening this week. my apple trees haven't made a peep.

run, moonpie was grazing on the brand new green grass on the west lawn. i think she's either a goat or a sheep.

cindy, the sound of geese has become a great comfort to me. heading straight northeast every afternoon.

keif, sorry about your annual snowfall. i'm convinced michelle bachman is the antichrist. guess who the 4 horsemen are.

john, it's my understanding winter's bone takes place in the ozarks, which is a very particular culture, similar to the folks of appalachia. have heard great interviews on npr with the writer and director.

p.s., dear gleeks: was it just me, or did their version of "landslide" bring anyone else to tears? oh, sure, i've been in love with gwinny since 1989, but take a classic song with bastardized versions of buckingham's exquisite guitar work (did it all by himself in front of thousands with stevie [not a fan of the dixie chicks' version]), add some pretty fantastic acting by santana (the glee chick, not the guy), and i think we can all be sure my sister-in-law was bawling the way she apparently did during toy story 3. perfect.

oh well, just sitting here in the dark waiting for my moment of clarity. and yet more heavy rains.

"Landslide" was beautiful. And it was a great episode for Santana. Wish they'd use her character more.

We got two feet of snow yesterday. I think I heard it was the fifth biggest single dump of snow in Vermont ever, and the biggest March storm on record.

It was Fat Tuesday today here in Pennsylvania Dutch Land. My father came for dinner last night (I made the pot roast recipe from Cooks Illustrated - OMFG can't recommend it enough) and he brought homemade faschnachts.(Look it up) As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!

that's the thing, tia, it was perfectly blocked and shot, and i think santana is the most talented of all of them. and "afternoon delight" was... actually so sweet. what a great show. started out weak and then blazed. snow here thursday, pretty much out of fuel till i hike the field of mud. i saw northern vermont made al roker's hitlist.

topazz, if you feel like it (happy mardis gras), would you give your dad my best? i don't know if you watch nbc's "parenthood", but i think you're on it. that's a compliment, in case you were wondering. i live for good tv, which means mike scott and amy ryan's love story on "the office" just might be its sweetest moment.

Santana and Brittany, so sweet! I agree Santana is underused -- her version of Valerie is one of the show highlights I think.
Only problem I have with doing Landslide as a group number is that it's about lonelieness, or so I thought. Just not right. Gwynnie is rising in my estimation, and she and Morrison make a very sweet Glee combination. (Also loving John Stamos in his role). And though I love me some Darren Criss and the Warblers, they need to let Kurt shine some more.

rundeep, the essence of that song is stevie singing and buckie picking chords but also playing melodies. i hate that he makes it seem so easy. well i don't hate it. but yeah, that's why i don't care for the chicks' version of it because it's about being alone. the chicks' version is over-produced with watered down guitar parts. for me what makes the original so powerful is the rawness of buck's guitar. it's just more... authentic, with all the miss-picks, the song becomes perfect.

i.e., i'm so tired of you being right all the time. still sitting in the rain waiting for my moment of clarity.

rundeep said...

You only think I'm always right because you always agree. Which makes us both right, so don't worry. Get out of the rain. Clarity means never having to say I'm soggy.

topazz said...

No, you ARE always right. Too bad they went and picked Marsha Clark way back when, instead of you.

switters, of course I will, and thanks. Typical weekly phone call from my Dad: "I see there's a Mass being said for Mom over at such-and-such parish on Saturday night/ Sunday morning/Ash Wednesday, etc. Want to go?" Oh joy. I don't know what's worse; the fact that he's scouring every church bulletin for her name within a 50 mile radius or that I'm nearly always available.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any
