I'm watching "Paving the Way- The National Park to Park Highway" on PBS. Like The Dustbowl, it's hard to believe that this sort of project, a 5000 mile loop encompassing all 12 (at the time) National Parks, took place in the last 100 years.
I have to be reminded from time to time that we own those parks. When I first moved to CO, my girlfriend at the time and I rented a cabin near Allenspark that abutted the Rocky Mountain National Park. You could hike a trail in a t shirt, round the corner, and you were freezing. Man.
I'm still recovering from Dustbowl. About the only thing I can say right now is that I was mesmerized. Is Ken Burns just one of those guys that's sickeningly gifted at what he does?
They edited out the "griddle marks on my ass" line when Del's talking about feeling like a big Whopper.
What got me was the farm bill that saved the farmers when they needed it. But what they forgot to do was to get rid of it when they didn't need it any longer.

I love PBS
The CW is showing Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

WGN is running tit too. They just finished pulling their fingers out of the dashboard. Great movie.
Never been to Estes Park. Trail Ridge Road is calling my name. And yeah, Ken Burns is the real deal. A national treasure.
Dustbowl- I know. I didn't realize so many people died. And what a friggin' nasty way to go. Dust lung.
"No....but I have 2 dollars...and a Casio."
