Last Day
Today's my last day at work. Turned in my notice Tuesday afternoon, with a phenomenal Letter Of Resignation. Don was visibly moved. Go figure.
My PODS shipping container arrives either tomorrow (Saturday, probably not) or Tuesday. I'll pack slow, maybe take a week. Then maybe have it shipped up to Piqua the next week. Then I'll follow it after a few days and possibly be there to make sure they don't back into the pump well house when they're dropping it off.
Then? It's me against Wicked Mother Gaia. (She'll win, but I won't go gently into that "Good night, Irene!")
Wish me luck/kind thoughts/prayers, and I'll see all y'all up there. And a six-pack to whoever can get the fridge in the house without ripping the screen door off, and a case to whoever can by ripping the screen door off. Seriously.
Peace.
P.S. Won't have internet for at least a month, now that I lost my "RollTide" server at the house.
The picture is looking east-by-northeast from the easement. It looks better the further you get away from it.

Safe travels bud.
It's your first day.
Will be thinking of you as you make the move ... and look forward to more updates from Piqua.
Be well!
It's about damn time.
I am honestly thrilled for you beyond the telling that the day is nearly here. You know your dad's walking that property line with you, right? They'd be proud.
You're finally going home, my friend.
Good luck, dude.
happy moving!
make sure you have enough time to unpack. or you will never, never, never get around to doing it. trust me on this.
Okay, I'm late to this, and i don't know how to wield Asian characters, but go man go! So happy for you. I think about you every time I hear Ben Folds' tunes. They capture all that sad sweetness and humor. Much luck and grow on. (PS, we caught and relocated so many groundhogs this summer that we wore out the trap. On the other hand, we got mortgage lifters and various heirlooms and of course cherry tomatoes for the first time in years. Yum.) Smooch.
I am so jealous that you can grow heirlooms.
Florida humidity simply mushes them before they ripen. To get a big, fat tomato to grow in Florida one has to use the Evil Seed of Monsanto that has been genetically modified to look like a tomato but taste like crap.
We can grow a mean cherry tomato though.
Go to mcd's they have free wifi. Or the library (gasp!) Come on...we need a fix. I know it's tomato harvesting time, but sheesh.
I'm with Iso, man... what's up in the country?
stopping by to say hello.
don't make us come down there.
Hmm, still no update. Obviously the fortune cookies aren't working. (And after all that effort to get the ideograms lined up and translated properly, and to precisely research and link to the Hong Kong pornography sites that would render the optimum casual attention.)
Riding The Bus With My Sister is on the Hallmark channel right now. Thought of you.
If you think I'm going to just keep checking back to see if you're relocated and all settled in you got another fuckin' thing coming bub. I accidentally clicked on this blog, that's all. Figured since I was here I'd leave a comment. No big deal. Not like I give a shit if you're OK and all is well or anything like that. So piss off.
It's been two months. Hope all is well with you. Thinking that you are working too hard with a Fall Harvest to worry about the old internet.
Hey, yourself.
What the heck happened to your Crimson Tide?
Hey, that's sorta reassuring.
Big barbershop competition in Lima this weekend.
And?
How's it going?
also
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
did you have to go down cellar yesterday? can't believe we still have any leaves still on the trees here.
Hey switters, I don't think I'm alone among the curious (envious) and the well-wishers. Honest living can't be easy. I also miss your take on things. How is it all going?
Friends of Switters: he has landed! I spoke with him last week, and he's been in Piqua for, I think, ten days now? Something like that. He sounded very upbeat, despite the lack of heat and the prospect of living in one small room for the next two years while he renovates. His brothers have lofty plans for the place, and Moon Pie is happy as only a suburban dog in the country can be.
I'm hoping he'll soon find his way to someplace (a library, fer instance) with the intertubes so he can correct the details of my update.
Thank you Tia!
I don't know why this reminds me of you, and your efforts, but it does.
All the best. Thanks for the update Tia. Love to you all.
